Treking
Hey everyone! i just got back from my backpacking trip to yunnan. It was really great. we packed through tiger leaping gorge and the went to Haba village and then to base camp on Haba xue shan or Haba snow mountain. Haba village is at 7200 ft. Base camp is over 13000 ft in elevation. The summit is over 17000 ft above sea level. One of our guys got altitude sickness at basecamp so i ended up going back down to the village with him instead of summitting that day with the other to. This was both a relief to get my friend to safety and a bitter disappointment at the failure for my high school dream of climbing a mountain with ice axes and crampons. yes you heard it right. i couldnt bear to put pictures of the summit up but here is a slideshow from my flickr set that should give everyone a pretty sweet chronological recollection of the trek. So just put on your favorite outdoors-y acoustic, folk, or samba music and enjoy the tour of the southern Himalayas.

Man, what a crazy experience. I'm still blown away by the photos of all of those buildings at base camp!! How did they get all of that stuff up there???

p.s. you know i'm going to rock that supertones shirt...i was told by a summer team guy that all i wear is band t-shirts and tech t-shirts. i don't know what he's talking about.....
im going to try and make it down for thanksgiving. i just have to be careful to spread out my interactions with foregners so that i dont "spent it all in one place" if you know what i mean.
