An adventure and a half.

As previously described to a select few, there is a secret room here on campus called the Journeyman Room. It is a room where 2 year single journeymen can go to get away from the stresses of orientation. It is secret kept from the staff and most career workers here. We found it last week. Here is the description of the adventurous journey to the beloved hidden room. In between the computer lab and the small amphitheater there are some double doors labeled pc workshop or something like that. we used a coat hanger to open the locked door but inside, there was another door with the ladder behind which has a dead bolt. stumped. eventually we found a hatch in the ceiling of a room just across the hall and a few doors down. we used a broken spoon to unscrew the 3 screws that were loosely securing the hatch. from there we climbed up into a room with lots of vents and ducts. from there we climbed through a gap in the wall to about 10 feet up into another room which had an old roof for a floor. we then climbed down the same height into another room full of rafters, up a few rigged steps in the rafters and into and over head space in another room. from there we climbed through the rafters (which were suspended about 7 feet above the insulation below) and ended up in another room with a ladder ro the rightto that led down to the inside of the original door with the deadbolt. to our left was a tiny door that lead to the original journeyman room. started in 2002, discovered by the staff, painted over and locked up, rediscovered by the route i just mentioned in 2008. Heres a visual....

Here is a shot of the hatch right after I climbed up.

These two pictures are of the first room after climbing up the hatch
on the lower picture the hatch is covered up by the a/c duct on the bottom right corner.
There is an opening in the wall about 3/4 up which leads to the room with the old roof floor.

This is a picture of some people climbing out of the room with the old roof (2nd attic) into the 3rd attic.

This is at the landing in the 3rd attic looking at the path to attic # 4.
Note that you have to walk on rafters the whole way until you get to the steps ahead.

Here are some people climbing up the aforementioned steps toward attic #4.

i know! impressed that you caught that one! i was thinking of starting a club for people who make to the jman room wearing Toms.... all the more reason for you to find it when you go to debriefing!

I don't know why but I was picturing marble floors, ancient paintings on the walls, a stained glass skylight, and ornate benches.

The attic-like atmosphere was kind of a disappointment :) Looks cool though!

Sweet!

The hand-drawn map is fantastic. You need to hide it under a mattress with no other explanation when you leave!
